Ethnosphere Music Lab live, local, sustainable music ETHNOSPHERE is a term coined by anthropologist Wade Davis to define the sum total of all our thoughts, dreams, myths, stories, inspiration and imagination that exist all around us. This “ethnographic atmosphere” is in danger of being lost by lack of face-to-face transmission of culture. Ethnosphere Music Lab works to regain the beauty necessity inherent in preserving cultural diversity by encouraging community-shared music and performance. ETHNOSPHERE MUSIC LAB is an evolving performance organization that breaks down the barriers between musician and audience to inspire live, local, sustainable music in the community. Our mission is to educate kids and adults in the transformational and sustainable aspects of live, local music, and to guide them in their own musical explorations using forms from many cultures. ETHNOSPHERE MUSIC LAB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and holds participatory performances and instrument-making workshops by donation throughout the greater Santa Fe area. YOU can be a part of Ethnosphere Music Lab through our performances, by signing up for a workshop, or through volunteer work. PROGRAMS: MAYAMUNDI – Ethnosphere Music Lab’s flagship ensemble, performing concept-driven events with beloved local guest performers.
